I spent most of the past week in Berlin, Germany on a little vacation to recharge from a burn out that hit its peak during Fashion Month. I spent the week with A, a friend of a friend of mine in NYC, who I had met in Berlin in September. We met up with Devon a fellow fashion photographer that I met during the Paris Fashion Week craziness and her husband Rainer at the Dorotheenstädtische Cemetery. The cemetery is fairly beautiful, but what I was most interested in was the chapel that holds a James Turrell light installation piece.
The chapel opens at 3;45PM in the fall and it is 5€ for students and 10€ for non students. There is a presentation spoken in German (my German is very horrible) and English describing the light piece.
I loved watching the colors in the installation change from blue to purple to pink to red to green to yellow to white to teal back to blue. I felt calm sitting in a church pew while the lights changed colors. Couples are able to get married in this chapel— I wonder who many have been married here.
